The Mercury Mantra

The Mercury Mantra, Mercury, known as Budha represents ‘buddhi’ – intelligence, whereas the Moon (Chandra) signifies the innocent mind. Mercury is a karaka or indicator of intelligence, commerce, education, writing, books, humour, scholars, orators, lawyers and consultants. Budha closely follows Sun (Ravi) – either he is ahead or rising behind Ravi. Budhaditya yoga, for that reason is found in many charts. This is also known as Nipuna yoga. Budha gives proficiency ( Nipunata) in many subjects. It is up to the native, how he would use such talents. He can become a successful detective or choose to be a thief ! Due to this Budha is not classified as malefic or a benefic. He takes the attitude of his associates. He gives wit and a flavor for jokes. Intellect is born out of imagination and wisdom, that is the meaning of the story that Moon representing imagination abducting Tara, wife of Guru (Jupiter). Budha hates Chandra which means the evaluated intelligence overthrows innocence and imagination. The successful critics can not become creative writers ! Budha when afflicted or badly placed causes mental problems, skin diseases and misunderstanding with relatives.

Propitiation measures to Budha gives high intelligence, fast reading skills and cools down mental anxiety.

Mercury is a neutral planet. Mercury is such a planet which blesses the native with judicious mind, logical faculties, sharp understanding, power of prejudice and confidence. Qualities like mathematical, astrologer, financial capabilities, business, engineering, book writing and publishing, teaching, tradition and other professions are related with Mercury.

Mercury represents the lower part of the abdomen, skin, mind, nervous system. When it is weak it causes diseases like leucoderma, impotence, loss of memory or speech, skin diseases and insomnia.

When Mercury is malefic, recital of Mercury mantra is very benefic and favourable. If Mercury is occupying the 6^th, 8^th or 12^th house in anybody’s horoscope, or is in conjunction with a malefic planet, it needs help through the Mercury Mantra.

This Mantra protects from fire and electric shock etc. It is especially favourable for a pregnant woman against abortion and for safe delivery of a child. Those having problems of stammering and speech should perform daily pooja through Mercury Yantra.

The Mercury Mantra Sadhana should be started on sarwarthsiddhi yoga day falling on Wednesday. The devotee should wear clothes of green yellowish colour (colour of banana’s new leaf) of cotton or silk. Sugar balls are offered to the deity of the mantra as offerings. The sadhna should end on Wednesday. On the last day, articles of Mercury are donated to Brahmins, within the first four hours of sunrise.

बुधपीडाशमनार्थं जपे विनियोगः II

बुधस्तु पुस्तकधरः कुंकुमस्य समद्दुतिः I

पितांबरधरः पातु पितमाल्यानुलेपनः II १ II

कटिं च पातु मे सौम्यः शिरोदेशं बुधस्तथा I

नेत्रे ज्ञानमयः पातु श्रोत्रे पातु निशाप्रियः II २ II

घ्राणं गंधप्रियः पातु जिह्वां विद्याप्रदो मम I

कंठं पातु विधोः पुत्रो भुजा पुस्तकभूषणः II ३ II
