Blue Stones, the stones of planet Saturn.

Blue Stones, the stones of planet Saturn.

Sapphire

The magnificent and holy Sapphire has its name derived from the Latin Sapphires, Greek Sappheiros, and Sanskrit sanipryam, meaning ‘Blue Stone.’ In ancient times its heavenly blue signified celestial hope and faith; it was believed to bring protection and good fortune.

It is a jewel steeped in the history and lore of nearly every religion. According to a legend, Helen of Troy owned a large Sapphire which was believed to hold the key to her desirability. The Greeks called it the jewel of Apollo, the Sun God. To the Hebrews, Sapphire was a stone of prophecy and wisdom. Buddhists believed it brought devotion and spiritual enlightenment, and the Hindus considered Sapphire as one of the ‘great gems’ used in Navratna and Panchratna jewel offerings in the temples for worship and to align astrological influences.

In Roman Catholic Church, a new Cardinal receives, with much pomp and ceremony, a gold ring set with a Sapphire from the Pope.

Sapphire is manifested in a variety of blue shades from light to deep indigo. The lighter shades create a mood of serene optimism and are good for meditation.

The power of Sapphire lies in the rays it emits, the colors of the sky, and the blue light of the heavens. It has the highest light of all blue stones. This gem, matter from the earth, transformed by the blue ray, spiritualizes, cleanses and helps.

It has exceptional calming and mind-focusing properties, allowing for the release of mental tension and unwanted thoughts.

It encourages openings of the mind to beauty, sharp intuitions and brings joy by restoring balance within the body. During times of change, it helps to maintain a clear vision of where you want to go and how to get there.

Blue Sapphire was traditionally worn when treaties were signed. It is highly effective in the speedy and positive resolution of legal matters. It is a stone of love, commitment, and fidelity, and has become popular in betrothal rings.

Blue sapphire acts on the throat center, which is the center of purity, where thoughts and words must be cleansed. The throat is the gateway to the spiritual aspects of our being, our devotional and mystical nature. It is the passage that connects our hearts to our thinking process. Because of old repressions which were not expressed with words, congestions were created. In order to manifest our true intentions, we must have an open flow in the area. The throats chakra is our contact with the universe and is very important in developing our consciousness, our thoughts.

Its deep, penetrating light emits rays of pure devotion, which speak to us of cosmic infinity, higher mystery, and infinite reality. It has the power to transform, to lift our soul into higher realms. Sapphire has been used in the performance of higher duties. Its sacred beauty inspires religious and inner devotion and faith. It is a great meditation tool that has been used by yogis, healers, and saints.

The Star Sapphire group is not as powerful but aids in creating and manifesting thoughts of devotion. The clear or colorless sapphire filters thoughts. The yellow sapphire cleans impure thoughts. It is traditionally given as gifts for a 5th and 45th year wedding anniversary and is considered a gem of autumn.

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli has an opaque light of deep royal blue, which is symbolic of the vastness of the heavens. It has been a sacred stone of ancient cultures such as Atlantis, Egypt, and Mexico. It is a symbol of the illumination of the mind and as such, has a great history. In Egypt, scarabs were carved from it to signify infinity, as the animal and the stone are both symbolic of infinity. Esoteric knowledge was sometimes inscribed on it in the form of a talisman or amulet.

The stone is very important in the foundation of the earth, as it represents absolute light. It touches at the very heart of love and beauty, harmonizing the inner as well as the outer. Lapis Lazuli instills high idealism by reaching to build and establish the essence of fellowship and cooperation.

This is a gem of contemplation and meditation, inspiring us towards our eternal soul so we may know that love, immortality, and God is one. Stones of deep luminosity, with bright exotic hues of blue, are the most useful. The pyrite inclusion- the gold flecks that show that it is genuine Lapis- give it a shine and unusually positive energy.

Lapis has great healing, curative, and purifying properties when used on the body. Its deep blue rays penetrate knots and congested areas of the throats, releasing them and opening the passage for the sacred word. What has been said about the throat in the section on blue sapphire also applies here, but on a more physical level because of the opaqueness of the stone.

Blue Topaz

Blue topaz is a beautiful, brilliant, translucent gem. Its electric light blue ray is cooling, calming, and inspiring. Its magic lies in the powerful properties of magnetism, which transmit and receive much like tourmaline and amber. Its message of eternity, in addition to the electrical power contained within, makes it a very powerful stone of radiant light, clarity, purity, and spiritual seeking. It is a great cleanser and purifier which can be used on the throat and for the nerves.

The blue topaz could be of great benefit to creative artists for they could use it to imbue themselves with the inspiration of its rays before beginning a new work.

Sodalite

Sodalite is a deep blue stone still in a process of evolution. It resembles lapis lazuli, but on a lower level of function. This blue stone has an excellent energy that will bring calmness to emotions, and strong clarity to thoughts but is too dense to be considered meditative or reflective stone. It helps to build self-esteem. Some Sodalite stones are found in shades of yellow, red, and green. The meaning of its name relates to its high sodium content.

Sodalite has a strong vibration that stimulates one’s ideals and ideas, about the nature of truth. It helps one to think rationally and intuitively and to verbalize thinking truthfully and in a calm, relaxed manner.

It has been used in jewelry and is also carved into objects. Its power can be amplified when used in conjunction with another gem of the same blue vibration. It aids in balancing the glands that control our metabolism. Because this stone is reasonably priced, you may wish to use it to work on the throat chakra as a ‘helper’ to the more expensive lapis lazuli.

These Bluestones are a Sagittarius birthstone.

Amethyst stone

The most popular substitute for Blue Sapphire. It also counteracts enviousness from others and removes the evil eyes. It protects from dangers and mental unrest. It alleviates long-term misfortune. It represents Saturn, our duties, and salvation.

It is mostly prescribed during the phase (Major period and Subperiod) of Saturn.

Amethyst provides good understanding, enhances the faculty of judgment helps one to maintain a good temper, avoid errors, and achieve self-discipline, good fortune, and high standards in life. It helps to gain stability of mind and removes anger and anxiety by transmitting light waves and absorbing excess body heat.

It is a gem of inspiration, which encourages meditation and the love of God, calling us to selfless giving and service to humanity. Its spirituality was recognized by the early Christians who choose it as a symbol of self-sacrifice, purity, and chastity- all virtues of the Piscean Age.

Amethyst is an energizer that has the potential to transmute consciousness, transforming set patterns and habits that relate to ideas and emotions. It dispels anger and rage, fear and anxiety, which block our spirits from realizing realms of infinity. It clarifies our dreams.

Because the amethyst has such a high-density vibration, it is potent for all forms of severe pain. It helps bring relief in physical pain as well as the pain caused by suffering and sorrow. It even helps those who are psychologically ill, bringing comfort and relief. Amethyst is a great help with headaches or insomnia.

At this time, there is a great deal of amethyst growing on the earth because our mother planet needs to realign and rebalance her. All of us can afford to purchase this stone, for it is quite inexpensive, especially when you consider its beauty and the help it provides us.

Always remember that a balance of both body (red) and spirit (blue) needs to take place, so we may merge with the cosmos and be one with the infinite divine.

Iolite gemstone

Iolite is the gemstone variety of the mineral cordierite. Iolite crystals are usually transparent to translucent forms of the mineral. Over recent years Iolite has become increasingly popular due to its affordability. It is also the substitute for Blue Sapphire.

Color of Iolite stone:

Iolite ranges in color from light to dark blue and even violet. However, the stone is also known to occur in different hues including green, brown-yellow, and grey.

Iolite is quite popular and easily found. Finer pieces of iolite crystal can be tricky to find from time to time, but in general, these stones are not rare.

They are often recommended to those suffering from a feeling of disorientation or a lack of motivation. The stone strengths our resolve to take on new responsibilities and carry them out properly. It also provides us with a sense of self-assurance and endurance. Iolite is also recommended to those who are lacking perspective and wish to bring order to a chaotic life or busy schedule through small practical methods.

Iolite is great for boosting the immune system and supporting a strong constitution. The healing properties of iolite are quite varied and expand to include the strengthening of nerves and a higher pain threshold. Iolite is perfect for those who love darker blue stone but don’t necessarily have the budget to splurge on gems like Sapphire.
