MahaMrityunjay Yagya By Vedic Mantras-
Poojas that are not conducted for specific planet of Navagraha are directed towards getting blessings’ from specific gods and goddesses like Lord Shiva or Goddess Gayatri. This depends entirely on the result desired as the outcome of the pooja. The basic step or Vidhi for these poojas are same but they differ in the use of mantras, havan samagri and the start and end date of the pooja. Procedure for most of these poojas which is done to please specific God and Goddess remains same. We shall discuss today the process to conduct Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja or to get benefits in form of blessings from MahaMritunjay Lord Shiva.
Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja is conducted in accordance with the specific count of Shri MahaMritunjay Mantra or jap. MahaMritunjay signifies something that is so magnificient that it could even defeat death approaching near it. Maha Mritunjay mantras are enchanted in order to bless the native from his/her problems like illness, acute disease that may be considered as a reason for the life to end or death approaching towards the native. The pooja is performed extensively to defy death and for the ailment of the natives by the blessing from power mantras of MahaMritunjay. Vedic jyotish recommends these mantras to please Lord Shiva who presides as Lord of Shri Maha Mritunjaya Mantra and is known as Maha kaal as if form of one of the trinity’s Shri MahaMritunjay Mantra helps to combat and avoid unnatural circumstances and avoid death due to these circumstances. Vedic Jyotish recommends this pooja as remedy to rectify variety of Doshas like Nadi dosh, Bhakut Dosh and other such doshas that are results of Gun Milan at the time of matching Kundlies. Monday’s are preferred to start or end Shri Maha Mritunjay pooja but the day and time changes in accordance with the time required by the pundits to complete the pooja. This pooja may include many steps that may differ for different pooja and Maha Mritunjay pooja takes around 11 days to complete. All the steps are to performed with precision according to the methods prescribed in order to get blessings from Lord Shiva.
The first and most important step is to complete the chant of 125,000 Shri MahaMritunjay Mantras and all the other procedures in the pooja are built around it. At the start of pooja the vidhi says that head pundit should take the “sankalpam” where he resolves to complete the pooja in desired time and enchant all 1,25,000 mantras. He also mentions the name of client and his father along with assistant pundits and asks the god to bless the native on complete of all 1,25,000 Shri MahaMritunjay mantras. If the native has any specific wishes of financial prosperity or anything else, those are mentioned in the Sankalpam.
After the Sankalpam pundits enchant Shri MahaMritunjay mantra till they are able to successfully finish the count of 1,25,000 mantras. A completion ceremony is ordganised after this where Lod Shiva, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Gayatri are worshipped with different offering that constitute pooja samghri like flowers, fruits, bhang, dhatura, bel patra, vermillion, bangles, red clothes and cosmetics for goddess Parvati, sweets, halwa, dhoop, Deepak, milk, curd, honey, desi ghee, sugar and other different items. Pundits keep on repeating in completion ceremony that they have completed the proposed poojai n desired manner and the native should be blessed by Lord Shiva as outcome of the pooja. The completion ceremony for each pooja defers in procedure and time.
It should be noted that in Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja, a specific planet from navgraha is also worshipped and offered with specific offerings in the completion ceremony. Then comes the next step in which the native is asked to take blessings from specific god and goddess. Next is the most technical and important step of Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja that is of Havana. A havan kund if formed and the holy fire is lit in this procedure. In this process a direct link is established between the native and the corresponding plants with the help of Pundits. With necessary formalities, chant of Shri MahaMritunjay mantras are enchanted and with the end of each mantra, a sound os swaha is produced along with which a specific constituent of pooja samghri being offered to the havan kund.Ther pooja should be carried out by the expert and handled with accuracy, precision and utmost care in order to be blessed as the outcome of Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja.
This process goes in sync for long and is repeated again and again. These things offered to the fire form pooja samagri, and may differ for different poojas. At the end a dry coconut filled with specific fillings recommended by pundits are offered to the holy-yagna and mantras are chanted by pundits on native’s behalf. After which the native is asked to go circles around the havan- kund. These circles may be of 1, 3 or 7 in number according to the nature of pooja and this step is called “Parikrama”. This marks the end of Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja.
All the above mentioned steps are to be performed in specific manner recommended by the Pundits in accordant with the Vedic Jyotish. You may not get the desired result if you log behind in some procedure and do not perform it in prescribed manner. Other then these processes, there are certain guidelines and precautions for the native which one should follow during the running time of Pooja. One is prohibited to consumption of alcohol and should refrain from smoking. The native is advised to have good conduct and should not take part in any act of violence. One should not eat non vegetarian food till the end of pooja. One is refrained to get involved in physical or sexual contacts with his partner weather married or unmarried. One should rise early morning, take bath and pray to. He or she should try to connect with Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja and pray to be blessed by Lord Shiva.
The point to note here is that Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja can be conducted with or without the presence of Native. This is that the pooja can be conducted by pundits on native’s behalf if he is unable to be present due to certain circumstances. A photograph is kept as a symbol of the native and head pundit mentions the name of the pundit who shall perform mantras on native’s behalf and the native should be blessed. The pundit designated first performs the native’s mantras and then his. This way with the help of assistant pundits, Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja can be conducted with or without the presence of the native.
MahaMritunjay Mantra is for the benefit for the native and should be extensively conduct by following each step of the pooja in the manner prescribed. A slight differ can result in drastic results on the health of the native so the pooja should be performed only by the expert pundits.
If Shri MahaMritunjay Pooja with a chant of 1,25,000 Veda mantras of MahaMritunjay are completed accordingly, it brings benefits and good results to the native and reduce the amount of threat approaching towards them.
